im thinking of making a 300mw red that will need some kind of stable temp (for a scanner system)

A TEC is a TEC. Shameless plug though - that auction is charging $3.50-4.50 + $6 shipping for theirs ($5.50 for each additional item, so its really about $10 per unit). I have 38W in 30x30mm and 56W in 40x40mm sizes I'll sell you for $3 and $3.75 respectively with a flat shipping cost of $3 no matter how many (if shipped to the US). That should help you cut costs a little

Shipping is a bit high for something that doesn't weigh anything but for 137 watts $4.50 + $6.00 isn't bad.

They have 10 packs for $29.00 and the shipping for 10 is $38.00. Now that's a little out of hand. They should just charge for the TECs and ship at a real cost. Ann Arbor is only a little over an hour away. Hmmm buy a few 10 packs and go pick them up. Now that would be cheap.
