I am officially putting a jihad on paypal. Why? you might ask.

Well, over a month ago 2 of my friends sent me two sums of money. One $75, one ~$200.

Of course, this got me limited. So around a month and at least 17 emails after I added my bank account and credit card like requested, I am told Im not going to get out of the limited status. EVERY reply before this was WORD FOR WORD, except the name of the customer support person.

I emailed them after that why the %^&* they just wasted my time and recources on this BULL%^&* and they replied with the same word for word email. Good customer support, right?

Im going to be ringing them today or tomorrow. I was planning on using paypal to purchase pretty much all of the parts for my DIY, now I cant. Ill use google checkout where I can, which is okay but not all the places use google checkout.

So I mean it when I say %^&* YOU PAYPAL YOU %^&*ING ^%&*S. GET A %^&*ING COLD ONE UP YA.

Theory: They are keeping the incredibly large sums of money in my account ($2.67... the other $300 got sent back to my friends) and trying to get interest off of it. Why else would they not unlimit me? Although, I tried to tell them the fees they would get off me are much more than 180 days of interest off of $2.67.

RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

That is all for now.

Love from me :)

Why can't you verify your account? Just keep pestering support and asking why you can't.

It was easy for me. They just sent me a letter in the mail with instructions to verify my address, then sent money to my account and asked mow much to verify my bank account. And that was it. Though, that was years ago, might be different now...

Here's my recent paypal rant...

I hate paypal right now too... For some reason I used to be able to do instant transfers using only a canadian bank account... This was great, since I don't have a credit card... For some reason they decided to take that away from me after three years of never having a problem... Ever since that day I've had no end of troubles trying to buy anything online... Now, if I want to buy something I need to send the funds to my paypal account first, wait two weeks, then I can spend it... Well, I tried getting used to this, just planning everything a month in advance, but recently it's just been silly. Normally when I initiate the transfer it takes 4-6 days for the funds to leave my account, then about a week, week and a half, for them to show up in my account... Knowing this I recently tried sending the funds the day before I got paid, so I could get a head start on it... SOMEHOW, they must have known I had no money in my account or something, because this is the first and only time I've ever seen them get the funds from my bank within the same day!! I was trying to do a $40 transfer and ended up getting another $40 NSF fee on top of it! So, I grumble and whine for a bit and decide to ask my roommate if I can put her credit card on my paypal account so I can do instant transfers again, she agrees and says if I charge anything to her card I have to pay her in cash in less than 30 days. Great! I decide to go and buy some stuff off ebay, knowing my bank account didn't have enough money, the thing on paypal said "Backup Funding Source: Visa - Funds will be charged to this card if the bank account isn't sufficient (or whatever)." I figure I'll just charge these two purchases to her card and reimburse her in a couple days when I get paid... BIG MISTAKE! Paypal decides to draw from my bank account anyways, twice, gets two NSF fees, then doesn't bother with the visa at all, waits two days, and tries the bank account again! $160 in NSF fees!!! For two purchases totaling less than $50!
I phoned paypal and they basically sat there on the phone with me for half an hour saying "Yeah sorry, that must suck. No, we can't do anything about this. I dunno, must be your bank's fault." knowing this was false, I still managed to convince my bank that it was their fault and had the charges reversed, but damn, I wish there was a widely used alternative to paypal...

My account got limited which means I cant send or do anything with it.

All it asked me to do was add a credit card and a bank account. I did.

over a month and over 24 emails later (checked my inbox for the word for word replies) they decided they werent going to take the limitation off.

I am sending them an email everytime they send me back an email, and each time Im going to get progressively more annoyed at the top of the email.

The latest one is "HOW ABOUT YOU ACTUALLY READ MY EMAIL THIS TIME!"

Ive tried the whole nice thing and Im over it. Im ringing them up tomorrow to give them the serving of their lifetime and if they try give me bullshit I will RAGE TO THE FUCKING EXTREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEME.

one problem: paypal IS the most widely used. I, for one, have never had a problem with paypal. I think it's a great system. One thing i love is their plugin so you can use paypal on sites that only accept credit cards. That's something that's VERY handy. But that does suck that that happened to you guys :(

I personally have no problem with PayPal.

But I still would like to see an alternative. There should always be an alternative for stuff like this. At the moment PayPal hold the market, and they are losing their touch.

the emails probably get something that isnt a computer...perhaps a toaster. I never got a reply from them.
however when i called they talked to me. she was asian so it was hard to understand, but i asked her how to get my account verfied with a prepaid debit and she helped me to it, so I've had no problems.

just word of advise, DONT EMAIL THEM, just call right away when u have a problem. This goes for most companies.

paypal are okay until they give you problems.

When you get a problem you are royally FUCKED.

'scuse mah french

You must be American.

Paypal really gives you a hard time if you're from another country... even if that country is the single largest trading partner with the united states, we share the longest unprotected border in the world, we have free trade agreements coming out the wazoo, if you're Canadian, paypal treats you like some sort of criminal. We do not qualify to use the Paypal Plugin, we do not qualify for the Paypal Mastercard, we cannot use our bank accounts for instant transfers, every time we send money to our accounts they get converted into US dollars, their exchange rate for buying international currency is some 5% lower than it should be and their exchange rate for selling is some 5% higher than it should be, so if you send $100 to your account then withdraw it again you lose $10 plus fees. Even when the Canadian dollar was worth $1.10 USD, I was buying things off ebay and it cost more in CAD than the auction stated in USD (that would be them funneling more than 10% into their pockets) ... there's a million things I've tried to do with paypal where I ended up at a screen saying "This operation is only permitted through US banks" or some such.

Anyways, they have a good service, and some people have never had problems with them, but anyone who ever has had a problem has had huge problems that never get fixed, usually costing them scads of money. I know many people who've lost thousands of dollars because paypal decided to freeze their account for no reason.

I haven't had a single problem with paypal. The verification process was quick and easy and I haven't had any other issues.

I've been a member for over 8 years now and am in the US.... the only problem I've had is with the fees; they suck ;D

I really hate it for selling on eBay since they're essentially "double-dipping" with the combined eBay fees then Paypal fees, which you end up giving them about 6-7%, I think, which sucks >:(
