I'm new to this forum and was a noob to lasers just weeks ago. I spent many hours searching through this forum for ideas and techniques to make a laser time tunnel for an "alien" set I make at my home every Halloween.
It was an enormous hit! I did it all due to the kind posts from many users of this forum, and all of them I found through the SEARCH option. It was such a great resource and I'm very happy and GRATEFUL that so many of you pioneered this stuff. I learned much. Everybody takes the time to complain but few people ever say "Thank you," so THANK YOU to all of you on this forum who unknowingly taught me about lasers and how to build an awesome effect. You guys (and gals) are amazing.
I ended up creating a time tunnel gun with $3 worth of PVC, an old Erector set DC motor, 2 mirrors from a broken camera, an $8 green 5mW laser from China via Ebay, and a potentiometer from my junk drawer.
It is the most Ghetto-looking gun you've ever seen, but it was done quick, cheap, and just to see if it would work. I KNOW how ugly it is. To me, that was half the fun. That and the other dad's going, "What the h^%% is that thing?"
Here are some photos. The effect was far better in person (don't we all say that?)
