Yes, I can't wait to focus it! I have a collimator assembly from heruusciences and a few odds and ends lenses. Focusing something you can't look at should prove a challenge. Lots of good info on the forum here and I'd welcome any tips.
 
Use a Video camera to see the IR beam... Even a cheap Webcam
should allow you to see the IR..
You could test any video camera with your TV remote... If you
can see the IR from the remote... you will see the IR from your LD..
