hello everyone,

i have been reading about strange laser diodes from optical disk drives and i have been wondering where to find one.
i have open many optical drives in the past but i have only found normal 5mm can laser diodes, open can diodes, and wierd 4 pin sharp diodes
can someone tell me where i can find these strange diodes like these ones in the attached picture?

I got two 12 pin diodes like in your right image from a AD-7561S slimdrive (date 2009).
One 780nm (threshold: 36mA/1.74v, 1.65v @ 20mA, and one 660nm (threshold: 56mA/2.15v, 1.95v @ 20mA).
These measurements suggest that they are decent burners but nothing special.
The two pins placed furthest apart in the middle of the can are for the diode, and is case negative.

thanks a lot everybody, i just want to see some strange ld packages

The KES-400A sled from Playstation 3 is rather unusual with 3 laser dies in one package.
