I am away from my computer/house and don't have time to search right now.

What driver/s are good for 405 and what is a typical strong but safe mA? I want to throw something together quick.

Thanks,

Um, what kind of 405 nm is it? 6x? PHR? 12x?

PHR = 110 mA max

6x = 180-190 mA max

12x 400-500 mA max

If I'm wrong, please correct me!

Yeah 6x diodes shouldn't go above 170 mA and 12x have 475mA as maximum safe current, AFAIK, so you shouldn't go over that.

Drivers depend on your host setup, what batteries do you have, and have room for?

My Survival Diode/Driver are running at 447mA and my diode from DTR in Moh's kit is running at 428mA.

12x, thanks all! I've got the new Survival Lasers stainless steel with the copper heat sink and one of MOHs linears set at 478mA. Will that work ok?

Hmm, Moh's driver is on a pill from a C6, it doesn't want to screw into the stainless host. It looks identical though - are they different threads? I guess I can unsolder the driver for the pill, but I was hoping not to have to do that.

Might be a tad hot. On DTR's page he suggests to keep them inside of 450mA. YMMV.

On second thought, I'd probably run it there if that's what I had.

The input on Moh's round is listed at Input: 7.2-16V and Survival's page says to use two RCR123's.

I am not at home right now or I'd fire mine up. I'm 99% sure that you should use two 16340's at 3.7V each. Seem's like I dropped an 18650 in one of mine and it didn't lase.

I've got a Moh driver and pill from a C6 that I've put in the Survival Stainless Host - it should fit without a problem.
Batts - Moh's C6's/driver are supposed to run on 2 x 16340's if that info helps ;-)

You don't take your >1 watt lasers to work with you? :D

Thanks Stix,

It looks like that pill is not going to screw all the way in so I will need to un-solder it.

I'm looking at the Blu Ray 12x spreadsheet and I see nothing but fles and boost drivers. Will Moh's driver even work with this diode?

Seems like at 2x 16340 I have 7-8v going in, that should be ok right?

... Will Moh's driver even work with this diode?

I've got one running at 460mA and it works just fine (620mW peak with g2 lens). (2 x 16340's)
Its very stable and doesn't even seem to get warm after 60 secs.

I've got another due anyday set at 568mA that will be going with one of these 405's in a survival stainless host

edit: Just thinking about the problem fitting the c6 oill into the stainless host, I did notice some of the threading on the stainless host wasn't exactly smooth. There were a few little 'chippings' (for want of a better word) sticking out here and there. That could cause a problem screwing things in. I did wonder if it would go in ok when I saw them (sticking and whatnot) but it seemed to screw in without a hitch.

Why not just get a Ben boost driver instead? You'd be able to use one 18650 instead of two batteries.

Main reason is that I have a couple of Moh's drivers sitting here in front of me. :)

P.S. Where is T_J? I would have expected him to jump in here and tell me what an idiot I am by now... ;)
