I have been reading these forums and investigating the various sites to buy portable green lasers for about 3 days now. I have read a lot of the company and review forums, and I think I have narrowed my desires down to 2 options. I am torn between a Lucent envee 120 and a Nova Alpha 105. If someone can offer some experience or guidance in making this decision I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

Both excellent companies and lasers... you've done your research. My personal feeling is go with Nova, but Lucent are also pretty good.

Welcome to the forums!

Both are the same laser..but given Nova's reputation for lasers that exceed their rated power combined with their awesome customer service make the Nova a better buy in my opinion...

Good Luck with your new laser!!!

Welcome to the forums!

Thanks, and thanks!

I am also considering if I go with Nova, upgrading from the 105 to the 125. Is it really worth the extra hundred dollars??? What kind of benefits will be gained from spending that extra money?

You can't go wrong with more power!

But only you can decide if it's worth the extra $$.

I love my Alpha 125...

I will say that I have yet to read someone say that they wished they bought a less powerful laser! :D

Right on, that actually helps. Now I know this sounds stupid, but whats a leadlight?

Leadlight lasers are 5mW lasers that became famous for their ability to "Pot Mod" them to much higher power levels...

Nothing like paying for a 5 mW laser and getting 30 mW out of it!!!!

The last "REAL" leadlights I have seenfor sale were sold by Senkat....though he has long since been sold out....

ya no idea whare you can get thme now as many people perfer the dx30 and its the exact same price and you dont even have to modify it but i must admit the crystal assemble on the leadlighs was a whole lot bigger the the dx50 and dx200 i have taken apart

by the way you will love your alpha 125 if you order one they really are great lasers

Well, I decided to go with the Alpha 125. Thanks everyone for your input. I will let you all know what I think when it gets here.

Looks like a nice laser. :D Is the 200 sec. duty cycle the minimum or maximum time you can leave it on?

Ah, I thought it had a constant ON switch.  I have a habit of keeping my laser on as long as possible, well within the recommended operating time of course. :P

200 seconds is too short period for laser show.
This thing is useless for display projects :-(
My unit has been ON for days during test run.
But it only 5mW
