I did look for a thread on this and had no luck-
Social Groups-- whats the deal??
Where do I find them.??
under 'community' at the top of the home page.
How do I join?
click 'join this group' also at the top of the group page.
What happens at them?
At most not a whole lot - but its nice to have a group with a common interest..
Of what use are they?
well.. IMHO very little if you fail to subscribe to them when joining-
be sure you click 'email notifications' this way you will know when something new has been posted ( like e LEM- that otherwise you would
miss)
How can I start a new one?
easy look when you click SGs on "community'
Why am I not able to join some of them?
the maker of the group can designate it to be a 'private group' thus you need an invite.
Why would they do that?
For many reasons- but mainly IMO--some groups are just not for everybody. many do not want trolls in their 'house'
How do I get invited to a private group?
ask the member that started the group
How do I invite others to a group?
go to the bottom of the main group page and click 'pending...'
I do i find who already belongs or has been invited?
click
'see all members'
click pending list..
What if I invite & they don't reply?
delete their invite and invite again- it will show as a notification(again)
or PM the invitee.
Why should I start a group?
One great reason it to be able to network with members in your area or your area of interest(s).

Those who don't add a sub. to a group that they are a member of...
They are missing out- I put a 'free lasers post' at one and so far only a very few saw it( maybe because they DID sub the group)
so if you belong to a group either add a sub, or consider un-joining
no sense belonging if you don't care what happen at the group.

IF you can PLEEEEASE find the time ...
ADD your location in your PERSONAL PROFILE.
Once you do that we no longer need to guess wth you are- you get better and more correct help/answers to Qs and if there is a social group for your area you may get an invite to join it ...just remember to SUB after you join!!!)
