So I killed a laser...

I had a couple of very similar greens ordered and screwed up and put the wrong batteries in this one... I ran two 16340's in it.

LZCS - 532nm 150mW Focusable Green Laser Pointer

It worked great for 30 seconds, then faded to what looked like <5mW and finally died.

So, my question is, what do you think I killed?

Diode or driver or both?

Is it worth trying to put a new driver/diode in the host?

Any thoughts?

It depends on the driver. Some driver can handle 2x 3.7V and others don't. It can kill the diode in the process. You have to take it apart and test each component.

Hook up 3.7V to the driver in series with a multimeter, and see how much/ if any current is being used,
While your at it, measure the volage across the diode too.

If you put 2 3.7V batteries in it, that may have killed it. it says it needs 3.7V and you fed it 7.4V They don't handle that well....
