I was going for a Physics major at the U of A here in tucson, cause i really enjoyed the physics classes, they seemed very very interesting to me (i guess cause im a geek idk) and i was on my sophomore year, but i decided to switch to optical engineering instead. First lab we had was already hands on... although it was only as an introduction to the course, we got to clean high end lenses. so im very exited for that class. We are going to be using some low powered HeNe lasers later and also gonna be using some galvos and other types of scanners. i asked my proffesor if i could bring my 100mW greenie and ~80mW bluray and he said ok. Ill post some pics of the toys they have there as soon as i can lol.

Sounds neat, just remember to excersie proper precautions when using those lasers around your fellow classmates, don't want to put an eye out on the second lab day!
yeah lol i know, they have a few set of LG3 goggles themselves from thorlabs (http://www.thorlabs.us/Thorcat/6300/6354-S01.pdf)
so im good on that note, plus the labs (the ones in which we actually get to do stuff not lecture) are made up of only like 8 ppl.
