I was wondering what is the smallest laser I can buy that is still pretty cheap. I am looking for a skinney laser that will fit into a very small hole. Also it needs to be pretty short. I know there is a laser module that is pretty small. Also how many different color of lasers are being made? Any help?

Re: smallest laser

what size hole do you need the laser to fit into?? Or what are you planning on using the laser for this info. might help everyone here help you out better.

I've not seen anything like you describe but maybe, the use of fibre optics and a diode could do the job. :)

I am trying to mount some lasers on my bow and arrow and some how creating some type of sights out of the laser beams. That is why I need them to be small because the brackets on most archery gear are small and lightweight. Size and weight play a huge roll. Also the laser beam doesnt have to travel that far, just a few inches. It needs to be bright enough to been seen in day light situations. Does this help or is my idea too silly. Also what is a diode?

Check out a company called 'Beamshot' they may have what your looking for but don't quote me :-?

I dont want the laser to hit the target or travel that far. Say you have a 3 inch diameter circle. I want one laser to shine through horizontaly and another color laser to shine perpindicular to the other and create a bullseye where they intersect within the cirlce. Thanks for the help though.

I think i understand what you want to do, but honestly I don't think it'd be worth it. the amout of cash you would have to spend to get a visible beam in broad daylight would not be worth it. Just buy a regular set of fiber optic sights, like they have for rifles.

yeah it may be expensive and very difficult, but I'm been wanting to find a project that can keep me busy. I'll keep on keepin on and may one day come up with something cool. I already have the regular fiber optic sights, but just wondering if something else would work. Thanks all for the help.

a single 5-10mW laser module and a beamsplitter could do the trick if you used a mirror to make them intersect at 90 degrees. I don'-t know how you'd protect the setup from the vibration and "torque" of a bow shot though...

You could shoot said laser into the end of your fiber optics. it would make them a lot brighter.

Thanks for the help ya'll. I dont know what is going to work, but if you may have any more ideas let me know and maybe one will work. Thanks again.
