I received sd laser 303 that is having some issues.
The brightness is pulsing, on the full battery.
It is beurning from 15cm max distance.
I was wondering if it may be pot moded?
Thanks, id like to extend the distance

Pot modding those is not easy. It requires
either a special module puller or drilling
into the side in just the right place. The
pulsing could have something to do with the
button. It is a cheap 50mA tactile switch
that has 300-500mA or even more forced
through it. Increasing the current will
only make it worse unless the button is
bypassed or replaced. Try mashing down on
the button and wiggling it around.

Also try running it without the front piece
on and see if there is one round dot or if
the dot changes shape. That would indicate
mode hopping, in which case you should try
and get a refund.

Thanks, when I look from the batery side, I find that the button is sheacky and it sits on the switch uneavenly.
The housing dont show the spot where to open it to get to the modul.
I was planing to drill in front of the button to try to get to the output adyusting ?

The module is pressed in, probably with
several tons of force, and can only go back
out the way it came in. The pot on these
303 are often set as high as they can go.
If it is burning at all, you are doing
pretty good.

I pushed the module out of a 303 without much difficulty. Push from top into battery compartment. I'll add some pictures later today

why not just buy a quality laser for a little more instead of those cheap shit 303 that u never know if u get a decent one or not? never understood why buy crappy lasers its worth invest a little more money and have a laser that works properly.

Mortuus, well because propper laser is half of my monthly payment.
Thats allot $ for getting into any hobby :-)

Thanks to all
P. S.
Without the top part the dot is rounded and it has lots of small spots surrounding it.

Did this to one of these the other day to try blow it up. Its easy. Just use a voltmeter to monitor the amps. can take some pics now if you want to know how.

Actually just realized mine was a 851, Here is a link on a how to by drilling it.

Alternatively i have done this in the past. Is putting something the fits on the inside and push down onto it. If you have a bit of tube this will work awesome. Especially in a vice. I have used an old bullet casing aswell. A pen and a bolt. This could break you laser tho. So do so at own risk. (I did it on the ebay 1mw laser pens and i didn't care if i broke them as i was using them for parts etc anyway.)

So would you say it's doing TEM12, TEM21,
or TEM22 according to the picture? If that
is the case, then get a refund. There
isn't much you can do and pot modding isn't
going to help. It's a factory defect.

There are different versions and you need
to pay attention to which one you have.
Some have the pot on top and others have it
on the bottom. You could end up with a
laser full of holes!

The reason I do not recommend pressing the
module out through the back is that the
button can become lodged and tear its way
through anything that gets in its way. Some
of them don't have the plastic board
stiffener and you might be able to fit
something down in there to press it out. If
there is a black plastic thing around the
board, then forget about it. It will
probably crumple and tear parts off the
board. The only real safe way to get it
out is to make, or have someone make, a nut
that will engage the threads on the module
and pull it out.

pictures of my disassembled 303. wires on driver I added for a test on something else

eh what? you can get a decent laser for under 100$ its worth it but if low on money i understand.

Since the OP is MIA, I'm sure he doesn't
mind if I hijack his thread.

I got the lens today, thanks, starlight.
It didn't fit, but luckily I had another
lens from a sled that was the perfect focal
length. It is also coated, so I'm hoping
for a power increase as well. Just as a
test, I tried a 405-G-2 and it gained over
10mW, but can't use it because of the focal
length and barrel size. The "new" lens is
probably coated for IR, though, and might
actually end up losing power. It was a
real pain to get it clean, damn smokers.
That and the all-day power outage that
caused me to lose my favorite pair of
twiizers.

.

Is this TEM11 thing why my 405 from O-like looks like its made of 4 dots with the naked eye but when I put my Eagle Pair's on it looks like one dot? Ive been thinking I am going crazy. Or am I just seeing things?

Well, if you're going crazy, then you're in
good company. :tinfoil: Is this your first
405nm? It could be something with your
eyes. Have you tried defocusing it to a
large spot? 405nm can play havoc with some
peoples' vision.
