When ordering a Sanwu Challenger II Laser it has an optional upgrade unit. What does this upgrade unit do and whats the difference between the 1-5? Thanks!:thanks:
With the single mode driver you just click the tailcap once to turn the laser on, and once to turn it off. With multi-mode you click it in sequence to unlock different modes.
My 700mw challenger has low power mode(5-10mw), medium mode(500mw), strobe mode and high power(700+mw).
If you want simplicity I'd say just go for the single mode driver. If you don't mind clicking combos into the tailcap go for the multi-mode.
Mine stays in the last mode it was in. If I turn it off in safety mode, it will stay in safety once turned back on.What's the 'default' mode? That is, if you only click it once, which mode will it go into?

All of my sanwu lasers have soft start far as I can tell. What I thought was one of the coolest things about the Challenger is the "soft start", how it fades on instead of just clicking to full brightness. Do you think the single mode will have that as well, or just multi-mode?

Only a second or two I think. Not really a big issue in general use.I didn't know Sanwu lasers had a soft start feature! How long does it take for the laser to reach full power?
