Hey BobMc and RedCowboy
I'd be in line for a 1 Watt 492 nm! A very visible beam- capable of being used in doors-or outside-if de-focused-and the focal point being away from combustible material. A 5 Watt? Yikes!
I focused the 1 watt 520 nm on a dry leaf (much like in the pic-although the beam was NOT in focus-giving a large dot) and smoke arose almost immediately. The "burn" test was against my dark grey "beam stop" rock (wearing Eagle 6 O.D. 390-540nm)
The beam shot is (as I said-NOT focused).

You can get 130 mW out of these diodes at 275 mA. It is a pretty visible beam. If you are felling lucky and have a good heat sink, you could go for 350 mA. That might get you over 150 mW. At this wavelength the beam is quite visible as is the spot.

I didn't feel real lucky, and with only one diode, I played it safe and kept mine to 275mA, and got 138mW avg. output; a very visible beam at that setting. :yh:

Pelagius, you'll love that Sanwu gaurdian 492nm if you decide to get one!

Hey BowtieGuy,
It's been in my cart TWICE today. I predict it will happen soon!

Sorry to hear your going to be missing your baby for awhile. Hopefully the turn around will be quick, and she’ll be back where she belongs shortly. Glad to got a couple more laser to help take the edge off, but I do know how addicting the 1 Watts 520 can be. Such a beautiful beam they throw. Looking forward to your beam shots. As Tom Petty sang about “the waiting is the hardest part” :)

Ps, a 1watt 492, that would be the holy grail of lasers. But one can dream. :)

Hey BobMc
Thanks-yes a 1watt 492!

A 5watt 492! :D :eg: :D :eg: :D

I tried writing on wood with my 1Watt 520 nm -pretty easy. I was pleased to see the 150 mW Sanwu 492 would also write on wood-although more slowly.I have YET to pop any balloons or cut electrical tape. :) I do love the colors!

My giant Jetlaser 1watt+ gets warm, but just warm. I tried it outside and smoked leaves too the day I got it! The beams these 520 1 watters
make are epic. Try a black folgers coffee can lid. It punches through pretty fast! Gray from jetlaser contacted me today and the 3.5 watt
465nm I ordered is not buildable. The diodes they have are only good for 3 to 3.3 watts. So I got a rebate and one of those is coming.
My 1243mw 520 does not nuke white paper. I think 3 watts of 465nm might. I bet it gets warmer than my 520 too!

Yes the 1W 520 beam is epic! And it will easily burn letters into wood. I'll have to try the Folgers lid.
Good customer service from Jet!- and 3 watts should do wonders. I'm thinking white paper reflects too much energy.

3Watts of 465 should make for a pretty beam!

It should be fun putting the dots on clouds with both side by side.
The 520 is bright enough neighbors notice the beam and say wow.

I also just ordered 2 more Eagle Pair goggles. One set for reds and one more set for green/blues.

Did you get a chance to see my review of my new 520nm 1100 mW green laser build? It likely uses the same diode as yours but gets a bit more power out. I put it in a sinner's secret weapon host I've been saving for years. It takes two 26650 Li-ion batteries.

Hi Paul- I did! And gave your Olde Timey REP! Very nice indeed. I'm sure you're getting a few hundred more mW and doubtless a longer run time.
