Safety approved laser host

Nowadays it is getting harder and harder to buy and sell lasers in standard hosts such as the C6, and I even agree that such hosts don't really offer adequate protection for a >1W laser. So I was wondering, are there any DIY host alternatives that have all the usual safety features that "FDA approved" lasers would have, such as keyswitch, physical beam stop, etc.?

If not, I think there's a niche to fill for the host makers around here!
