Rockstar facial expression technology!

Thats astonishing.

All we need now is to integrate this technology into FPS :)

There's not much use for that kind of technology in fast FPS games, but it's definetly good in such adventure type, detective games.

You never see faces in FPS game anyhow :D Well, in cutscenes maybe...

No i meant..

In the likes of F.E.A.R , where you can you use bullet time (slow down) just as your unloading a clip into someone close up, it'd be good to see the look on the charactors face :)

Hardcore!

I´ve read somewhere that they have big problems with the other graphics in the game. It has a >5years development time till now.

Hope that they are able to refresh the engine and this is going to be a MUST-BUY game for me. Love this genre.

That would be mostly due to hardware requirements for something like that.

This game is said to be for PS3, which has 8-core Cell processor, and is only machine I can think of right now (affordable one) that can do this.

Imagine the number of mesh transformations and retexturing done in one second to make this. Brain hurts :D A processor would need to calculate every polygon of that face and it's always constantly changing, so it's impossible to cache only the face and show it.

Even only saving it as animation instead of simulating anything (fat chance of actual simulation happening soon, eh?) is like, 2x more complex than the rest of the game.
