As I promised I am posting pics of my scanner now that my PHY department are finished breaking using it.

sadly (Im pissed beyond belief) they have managed to break the damn thing and therefore Im posting a poll as to how you think they broke it.

Anyways pics to follow, I can post specs on the circuitry if you like it has a nice calibration feedback circuit attached to a main potential divider to set the motor to 'just spinning' at max resistance.

Pic: the tip of the switches light up when in the ON position- green for the green laser, red for the red laser and blue for the motors.

NB yellow laser is achieved by overlapping the 2 lasers.

labels are all vinyl and if anyone wants to pay my costs I can so such labelling for others too- any shape, name, etc out of any colour vinyl.

second NB all th stickers are parallel its a trick of the camera if thy look wonky....

nice but i need some damn action shots! NOW

did you use a dichro to mix the colors?

I cant its completely dead. both lasers dead both motors dead. no pics of the laser working are available atm.

Im going to attempt a fix but atm this looks like its goign to be canned like the UV laser.

no dicro just used some good alignment to get the beam paths exactly on top of each other..... I was off very slightly so you woudl get red yellow then green shapes and it lookde really good.

also FYI I know how they broke it- point of polls was to see if you could think how the idiots did it.

So how the f*** did the bastards do it? How did they manage to break everything? :-?

How the heck did the motors blow???  :o :o :o :o

EDIT: BTW, next time if/when you rebuild it, it would be a good idea to build the PSU INTO the thing itself, so then people cant make errors with power. If they dropped it, then really you should have a disclaimer stating that if the damage is caused by the users, that they must pay the replacement fee's for fixing it. If everything died, then I would say they got the 5 and 15V wrong ...

they blew BOTH motors, and BOTH laser diodes!

The PSU was external as they wanted to use it for the college 'open day' and for some health and safety rule it had to be powered off their PSU (which can be locked to a specific voltage).

they killed everything- but I glues the motors in with epoxy to replacing them wont be easy.....

any guesses guys how they did it? it is funny :-)

can you please show how you combined these without the use of a dichro?

im very curious

and still i want some inside shots!

i never claimed to combine them- i merely said when both were on I achieved yellow! It took a lot of aligning to get the lasers exactly on top of each other so that when the lasers were both on it produced yellow.

I dont have any dicros- wish I did! that woudl be even cooler!

and as with all my DIYs no pics inside until im happy with it and its working :-)

atm its being hacked to pieces as i desperately try to get out the motors.....

then I have to re align the damn thigs and replace the mirrors :-(

well then why not buy a dichro! you would only need one dichro and one mount! or even just one dichro and make your own mount or just find where it needs to be an epoxy it

pm me if you are interested i have a few 25mm dichros from laserwave and also mounts.

they look like this.

with your build i would probably say dont go with the mount since you are probably tight on space and the dichro mount would end up being to tall.

they game the lasers 15volts and the motors 25 if i remember right.

yup they gave the lasers 15V!

and the motors 24V!!!

HOW?!
