Hello,
I purchased the GGW-H20L 6x BluRay Laser Diode sled, and dont know how I shall get the Heatsinks off the blu-ray and red diode

I've tried a little to twist the Heatsinks off with pliers, but i can't...

I am afraid to cut in the Heatsinks if there should come dust in/on the opening on the diode...
I have read that some put tape on opening, but is that good for the glass there is on the opening?

Here is the 2 diodes.

This one is your violet diode http://www.scrallar.dk/albums/userpics/10001/P1020044.JPG

This one is your Infra-Red diode  http://www.scrallar.dk/albums/userpics/10001/P1020050.JPG

There should be one other diode.  That will be the red diode.

To get them out of their heat sinks I use a small set of "nippers."  I cut through the edges of the heat sink where the little "nubs" hang out.  That loosens the diode enough to just pull it out the back of the heat sink.

Peace,
dave

Crap, then I have smashed red diode because I thought it was the IR diode which I could not use to anything.

It's because I looked ad "Bluray's" Tutorial "How to extract diode and Optics from 4X GBW-H10N"

#1 IR diode #2 Centre Red long can diode #3 6XBR diode
http://www.laserpointerforums.com/forumdata/yabbfiles/Attachments/All_Module_parts_033.jpg

And then I thought that the red was in the middle, So i took that in the left side out and practice on that becuase I thought it was the IR diode (it ended up I smashed it)

Fuck it, I'm just happy I haven't smashed the blu-ray diode :)

Can you tell what "nippers" and "nubs" means? In my Danish/English book doesn't there stand anything about that 2 words :-/

Aw, Bummer :(

For the benefit if others following the thread, here is what the diodes in the sled and in their heat sinks look like

I'm sorry.  I didn't realize you were translating.  I'll look up a picture of "nippers" after I post this.

The "nubs" are the parts circled in this picture
6xdiodes-1.jpg

When you look from the rear of the diode you can see little notches in the back of the diode that correspond to these "nubs."  I place the jaw (cutting edge) of the nipper into those notches and simply cut through the rear part of the heat sink.  I do NOT cut through the front part of the heat sink.  If you do that, you take a chance on hitting the can and breaking the window.

I'm off to find a picture of nippers (end cutting pliers?)

Here ya go

I place the cutting edge in line with the little notch in the back of the diode (holding it at an angle so that the cutting edge cuts into the rear of the heat sink) and cut through there.

Peace,
dave

Heh yes, I have to translate the difficult words ;)

Know I got the blu-ray diode out of the heatsink and in to the aixiz module :)

I just got a extra question, As I told I was a little tough with the red diode/heatsink because I thought it was the IR diode.

Can I try to connect it to a driver to see if it works? Or can I destroy the driver because the red diode is so damaged?
Or would it be stupid to connect to a driver because it is so damaged?

Here is some picture of the diode.
