Reliable laser seller or no?

Hello,

I recently discovered this Laser company which sells all their CNI products out of Utah, United States. I was told of this company by a LPF member and though why not take a look at it.

Website: red laser pointer640, red pointer pen

I looked through the website and got very interested as I saw many other wavelength's that I could add to my rainbow that other companies did not carry.
As I continued to further investigate the site I saw no prices were listed(which seemed odd), they also included this on their "About Us Page"

Quote: "Opto Engine LLC is an authorized distributor in USA of laser pointers, portable lasers and scientific lasers from CNI laser in China and Laser measurement equipments from LaserPoint in Italy"

What do you guys think about this? They also seem to be selling a 5mW 561nm laser which would be a very welcomed unit to my collection!

Check out their "up to 500mw 589" and " up to 500mw 593.5"
The spec sheet says up to 80 mw though.

I don't know.

640 nm pens, Just seems strange. I can't say good or bad company, but I can say that it seems fishy.

Those dual wavelength lasers look crazy too.

Exactly what I thought when scrolling over the site.

They also seem to sell IR 1361nm and 671nm 5mW pens. It is very fishy and I wanted to make sure before I purchase from them. Thanks Tmack!

Being the guy who personally contacted cni for prices just weeks ago, I can assure you that the 561 is somewhere around $800. Not so welcoming unless your a crazed hit man. Being a reseller they up price it in order to make money so expect 1000s. These aren't cheap...

Thought so, I mean I knew it wouldn't be cheap for example $300.

Anyway, I see they also sell a 640nm model? Who that make a difference between 635nm and 650nm?

Those little variances are for those who want complete wavelength collections. The difference is very slight to perceive. They are coveted by those who want them for the sake of having that specific rare wavelength, not for the difference in perceived color as much. Although some of these oddball wavelengths are stunning.

Alright, guess for now it wouldn't mean much to my 5mW "Rainbow", im getting my Libra on monday and can't wait! Also am only $2 away from buying the Anser!!!! :drool:

Would you consider 671nm a rare wavelength?

I would. There's only maybe 7 people with them.

Though you'd likely be taking the cheaper route buying direct from CNI.

And I'm not even sure the 561nm pens exist. I've been told "561nm is too difficult to be made into the GLP host" from Ava.

Anyway,

One day I will hopefully add 555nm 5mW LaserGlow (No-Name). That will take awhile though :yabbmad:

Therefore, the likeliness they exist is fairly slim.

Plus IIRC I emailed them a long time ago about the pen and never got a response.

No, I mean 555nm. But I guess that will never be, so yes 556nm

Well its not that 555nm is impossible to make, its just never going to make it's way into a handheld. OPSL is one interesting process.

I'm still waiting for CNI to put 457nm modules into their portables. :can:

No clue what that means I still have alot to learn about the lasering world.

The most in detail I can get is the 532nm.

I know the process is like this:

808----->1064---->532

OPSL - optically pumped semiconductor laser.

It's not the same, but it's similar to DPSS. diode -> semiconductor -> frequency doubler.

Being semiconductors are engineered, they can be made into vast wavelengths. Final output is 355nm - 577nm by changing the semiconductor composition.

Z is my go to guy for the processes OPSL is for sure interesting from the way you explained it to me in our pms. As to 561 it's my next purchase an I should be lasing with one in a month or two (been saving for one privately since August). During the Sumer months I should be buying exotic wavelengths like no tomorrow as I'll be working with my dad (took this summer off). In my opinion you should stop these collections. With all the money output you could be building some sweet lasers. My stinger pens got set back as I've been too busy to build them (or to lazy if you consider it that way) but once they are available they would make nice lasers in your collection. But seriously you should consider purchasing parts an making your own. Last thing, I don't know if it just me but on my device your signature is very wide and it's slightly irritating.
