Just bought a Laserbtb HL660-300. As I have a 301 Red laser it is most interesting to compare the two. The 301 is dimmer but has a far tighter beam and laser dot that I can see out to a mile on a dark night. The HL660-300's dot has more divergence and is a square vs the round dot on the 301. I was wondering if this was normal? I excepted a much tighter beam and a round laser dot with the HL660-300...at an appreciable distance the dimmer Red 301 has a brighter dot because it is round and has much less divergence.

Hm thats impossible if both are 660 diode and the cheap shit that you found on ebay is better? i find this hard to believe. And you have try focus the shutter on the front ?

I have ..as you twist the focus out it gets bigger..not tighter...the 301 is better, but dimmer.

ah i think i remember now that for 660 its normal to have a divergence like that.. so to me it sounds the other laser is a 635 that has a better beam and more round dot.

What is the wavelength on the 301 on the label?

I also have a LP635-130 that has the "awful" rectangular laser "dot"...the 301 has a much tighter beam and a small Red laser dot, at a distance. Also, I have had two Red 301 Lasers...both were the same brightness and had the same type of beam.

USUALLY the higher the power the more wierd(rectangular usually) the beam is as it is multimode which means that there are multiple emitters in the diode and the path they travel through is wider. At least in fiber lasers.

What is the output?
