Most likely the batteries have not been charged and have low power, or your diode has died out. Check the voltage on the batteries first before doing anything, then charge them and see how many volts the batteries give out. If your diode has died, you can either take apart a 16x dvd burner and extract the diode from the dvd burner and replace the diode inside your laser with the dvd burner, but it will be alot cheaper to just buy a new one. I'm currently waiting for this laser to come lol.

This is kind of late??

Some multimeters have a battery check setting. It will place a light load on a battery and show voltage then. I've also wired a bunch of resistors together in parallel quickly by twisting their leads together while still attached to the paper strips. if you hold both ends to each end of the battery and then check with a multimeter, chances are you'll see the voltage drop.

Be careful, depending on what resistors you use they could get very hot! Do this test quick :D
