I THINK I figured out what caused the two to blow Friday night.
180ma is at the very edge of the stable range of the flex driver... I was measuring current w/ the 'led' diode on it, and it would sit at around 190 for a second, then JUMP up to 300 or so. That pot is so sensitive at the end of its range, that it seems like just looking at it and squinting really hard made it jump up 100ma. I've turned it down to about 160 (which honestly, I dont feel like I turned the pot at all, it was such a small adjustment) and it seems to be stable there.
I'll get a fresh LD in it later today. That sucks too, though, using the meredith lens. 9mm adapter always gives me trouble when I press the LD into it. I even made one of the little hollow tubes that fits over the legs of the LD to press it in. But, my clamp isn't the best, and ive had it press it in at an angle and bust the diode.
