You're right, but most larger high-output lasers are based on lab designs. And since the laser, when turned on, is flashy and "neato" enough, there's not much point in making the housing fancy.
When you're like Wicked and selling potentially dubious products, perhaps a fancy casing makes more sense.
I also think (at least in the U.S.) if lasers are given fancy casings and look like "toys", they'll get even more unwanted regulatory scrutiny.
Then there is simple capitalisim/economics. If the lasers sell well as-is, there is no incentive to "improve" them cosmetically or otherwise.
