Re: Lightscribe Drives?

the light scribe drives are no different in that they have the same red laser and the same IR laser. however the medium on the lightscribe discs is special in that it is affected from a IR laser from the opposite side. Engraving into the top of the disk. Worthless for burning purposes unless you like working with IR.

Re: Lightscribe Drives?

I haven't used a lightscribe drive yet..but though that to "etch" the disk you had to install the disk Upside down.

You would burn your content to the disk normally..then to label it..you had to flip the disk over.

When my local dealer gets some it, I'm going to get one to try anyway...My handwriting SUCKS...would be nice to make professional looking disks for once.... ;D

Re: Lightscribe Drives?

It is a combination od hardware, software and the disk. If you look at the center of a light scribe disk, on the labeling side, you will see the encoding marks on it that tell the burner it is a light scribe disk.
