Well, It has only taken long enough. I want to repair my 250mW red laser. A few weeks ago, I harvested a LOC, just for it to die when I brought it to 130ma. It was a bitch to harvest, and I think I touched the inside of the diode.
So, depressed from that, I want to get another diode. I was poking around on rayfoss, and found this long, open can 250mW red laser diode -

I am wondering, is this the same as the LOC? Well, I understand its prob no the same, but very close. It says recommended current is 340ma, but I think it can do more since it says it can do 350mW pulsed. I am going to order these diodes along with a flex drive set to 340ma since when my last "250mw" diode died (was really 150mW CW), it took the driver with it. Since this comes with two in the package, I will use one with my LM317 driver and see how it handles when I increase it to 380ma.

They look like 815 LOC's to me. I have a LCC running at 445ma, and a LOC at 400ma. Both are doing just fine.
