Rayfoss hosts

I've been thinking about one of these for a while, since they're so inexpensive and look so nice, but I'm curious to see what people have done with them and what they think of them. Has anyone put anything other than a 12mm O-Like module in one, and had reasolable or noteable success? How good is it for a green host?

Also, what about this, for 5.6mm diodes? Does it work well for, say, driling out the hole in the bottom, and installing a clicky, and using a CR123A or CR2? It's not the most ascetically pleasing host, but it's compact and professional-looking.

So who's done anything neat with either of these, and can you please upload some pictures? Thanks in advance for all who help me. And thanks anyway for all who don't but try.

The waterproof host is nice. I currently have a pot modded DX true 5 module in mine. It's pretty nice, but you gotta clean the exterior lens often.

That second link, I guess you could modify it to make it a host using 1 or 2 cr2's. CR123A is 16mm wide, and so is the module, so you'd probably have to use a cr2 which is 15mm wide.

I don't own one of those, but the press fit rings aren't pleasing to me. You'd have like 3 gaps total between the LD and the housing (if I'm looking at the pic correctly).

I've got a 50mW O-like module in the waterproof host, thanks to Bobhaha. It's pretty good, and as bryce007 said, you've got to clean the exterior lens often (although it's not that hard see that it's waterproof lol)

no it's the DX true 5mw pen. There's a few threads about it. It seems that DX just took the 50mW model, and turned it down. It is pot modded to about 300mA, and does about 50-55mW.
