Hey folks, I'm not sure if I'm on the correct forum or not, and I apologize beforehand if I'm not. But I was hoping someone here couple maybe help me?

In my shop we are trying to center a 24" round mirror on top of a round (slow spinning) suction cup, which is 18" in diameter. We were thinking about mounting a laser pointer above the machine aimed straight down at the center of the suction cup. We'd already have a crosshair drawn on the mirror to dictate center. (we're a glass shop)

My question is, does anyone know where we could buy something like this? We'd like to preferable hook it up to a light switch or some type of switch so we could turn it on and off.

Thank you in advance, and again I apologize if I'm in the wrong spot. I read a few posts and I realize this forum is geared more towards real lasers and not the pointing device I'm looking for.

I would suggest a laser sight for a gun.
They come with a dovetail mount and are fully adjustable.
They usually have a flying lead with a push button, cut the button off and replace it with a switch.
Use a red one as green is probably too bright for what you are doing.

I just googled "laser sight" and snagged this one at random to give you an idea.

Hey rog, that's a really good idea and a great start. I am going to run it by a few people including the electrician we have there. Do you know how long a battery in one of those things lasts? It won't be on long, maybe a minute once or twice a week.

I was ideally looking for something we could plug into the wall and have 120v power it as opposed to a battery, but if that's going to be a lot harder to find and setup, we can make this work.

You could get one of the 50mW modules from here : http://www.laserpointerforums.com/forums/YaBB.pl?num=1229670231 that is mains powered.
