Question about the power of DVD diode and the suit

I still have a Question about the power of the 16X DVD burner...

And as we know, the laser diode driver is a uniform curent power supply,
and when starting, just slowly increasing the curent until the diode suddenly shines bright,
but how can I know whether the current is suitable for the diode? :)

you either need to find a spec sheet for the diode to see what power it is.

or you guess!?

Yep, The spec sheet could help me a lot. But sometimes it's hard to get it.
Because the laser diodoe is different from a normal bulb, it requires the current in a very accurate levle...
So wonder the current that could just start the diodes is enough...
If so, that will become easier to do it....

Well it's enough to shine, but it could probably go higher safely ::)

also check for heat, if the diode is ggetting to hot then you are putting to much through it.

I did harvest a diode from a 16X DVD player awhile back. The only reason it died is because the positive leg broke off. I ran it at 250ma's and it did last quite awhile. The diode came out of a Benq Dw1625.

Yep, geeting the norm Amp is the best way! So I am still finding the spec sheet of my laser diod,
;D ;D Usually, if I putting to much through it the laser diode is getting to dark... ;D ;D
Oh,I got a new idea! maybe the power meter could deal with the problem, but it's not an ecnomical method...
