Hi guys,
I'm sorry for bugging you with newbie questions, but here goes another one.
I need to buy 1000+ laser modules, 650nm, 5mw, that will be used for producing a thin line at a distance of 110-190mm. I already ordered the square line-generating lenses and now am looking for the lasers.
In terms of quality what I need from the laser is a clean, small dot <0.5mm, without any glare or reflections, with a focus depth of at least 50mm.
I posted a buy request at alibaba and got lots offers, mostly ranging from 5-9$ a piece. Of course, every seller said that their price is so high because of their exceptional quality, but were unable to explain anything further. While there are <2$ modules on ebay.
So I wanted to ask you, what aspects should I pay attention to when choosing such laser?
For example, is the glass lens really noticeably better then the PMMA one?
Why there needs to be 3 glass lenses and only one pmma?
Are there different laser diodes used for 5mw/650nm or are they all the same? If different, which ones are better?
Is it enough for the laser module to contain only the drive + diode + collimation lens, or should there be some other lenses present?
What is responsible for the focus depth, why some lasers have a focus depth of 100+mm, while the dot from other would start to expand even if moved for a few mm?
Thanks :friend:
