a while back I broke the driver on my 55mw green and now that the flexdrives go up to 700ma I thought maybe that would be enough to power the pump diode, the laser is a 55mw green old style wicked laser. what do you think I should drive the diode at?

If I remember correctly, Flexdrives CANNOT be used to drive an infrared pump. Why? Because IR diodes use about 1.8-2 volts, and the Flexdrive can't boost that low of a voltage.

They don't boost to that voltage, they buck from the supply voltage down to the required voltage.I don't know what to run that diode at though, it's probably between a 200 and 500mW pump, so you'll want a current between 300 and 650mA roughly.

If one were to add a silicon diode in series with the laser diode, the draw voltage would be 2.4 to 2.6V - more in the range of a red diode as far as the driver sees it.
