I wouldn't think so. They don't play Blu-ray media, I assume, so they most likely use IR diodes. But I have no clue, that's just a guess...

I guess i got confused. I kept seeing these vids of ppl putting blue ray on their psp, but that wouldnt require a blur ray diode. If your uploading it onto your psp you wont need one.

Yes it is possible to upload bluray quality mpeg files to your PSP. But you will never see a PSP that can play bluray UMD disks.
Also I don't think the PSP can display bluray HD so it'd be pointless.
