PS3 Replacement Lasers on PriceAngels

Thanks for the link and all but these are pretty obsolete an unused anymore. Not to mention there is another thread about this same thing :)

Toaster you should keep it zipped when you have no idea what your talking about, i replace 3-5 ps3 lasers per week , and as long as thier are ps3's , the'll need replacement lasers.

Thanks for the links.

They are obsolete as a laser.

Don't be a cock.

They are, in fact, not obsolete at all.

If you haven't realised, they're the only low-power 405nm diode easily available.

Yes, the PHR is considered 'low-powered' by today's standards, but for a <10mW or <5mW pointer, the KES-400A is still the only way to go. With a threshold current of around 60mA and close to

On top of that it's the only diode that we know of that has an IR, red and violet diode in the same can.

Not to mention that PS3s also need sled replacements.

A little bit of research helps.

I guess, in this case, you're the one who's being a cock. Ironic, eh?

I meant they are generally obsolete because there are better for cheaper. They are better used as just sleds. For their purpose rather than extraction.

I was upset that Ped told me I was wrong. I was hopig he would decide to check the other thread. I knew these things that you told me.

I'm sorry. Now lets stop arguing over something not important.

Yea I was surprised to see how many ps3 lasers died out on people.

I had never even heard of the problem until mine took a crap and I had to replace it.

DAMMIT!
Now I am in trouble with the gf for laughing at the computer @ 4am...
You guys are all AWESOME!

... Why is everyone ranting on toaster? I don't spend my time reading all the threads, so I've never seen him post before, but what he posted here was perfectly fine and then everyones responses were rather harsh. I think what he meant was that the majority of people here don't use them much anymore. They are not sold under the BST because they're expensive for low power. If you want a low power 405nm laser, you'd be better off buying a 5mW one on ebay for much cheaper. If you repair PS3's, then yes, perhaps you need one, but most people here don't, so what you're saying sounds rediculous in reverse - going to a forum about PS3's and talking about some powerful blu-ray burner laser. As for the optics, they're nice but not worth >$30. Additionally, not many people here need a low powered red, IR, blu-ray, and photodiode laser all in one, especially when you can't run them at the same time without heat issues and risk of burning out the diode. People used to buy them all the time on ebay and they were much cheaper - labeled "broken" but in fine condition for extracting the laser. I still have a new KES sled I got from Dave for $7 a while back - if anyone wants to purchase it from me for over $30, PM me. I also have KES sleds with dead diodes in it which I could sell too. The fact is, people don't use them much anymore so quit being snobby and saying "research helps" or "keep it zipped when you have noooo ideaaa what you're talking about" when somebody makes a point which is at least partially, if not entirely right.

Thanks man, I appreciate it.

Sadly they already made their decision and have decided to ban me, so this is most likely my last post. You sound like a cool dude and I wish I could have heard from you more.

Take it easy.

Toaster is a spam whore, has not completed a single build that hasn't failed in 6 seconds and generally doesn't know what he is talking about. He does not need to be giving advice like he knows what he is talking about, he needs to be reading.

If you care to check look at some of his posts. You don't have to dig far to see what I mean.

Then again he's getting banned any time now, hopefully permanently, so it really doesn't matter.

18650SS Jayrob 445 @ 1.1W
Ehg CR123a 650 LPC @ 250mW
Ehg 18650 405 BDR 12x @ 700mW

Just because I dont brag about them in my sig doesn't mean I dont have them.

And I'm assuming the red is the only one that still works, right? Seeing as how you killed the 12X and 445 already.
