Problems with New Green Laser Pointer

I just received a new green laser pointer in the mail from Hong Kong off of Ebay for 10 dollars. For a couple of hours it was very bright but then it just all of a sudden sort of died and now you can only kind of see the laser even when in a dimly lit room. I'm wondering if this is a problem with the laser or is it just the batteries. Thanks in advance for the help.

By the way, it's a standard 5mW 532 Green Laser Pen.

Read the FAQ, already answered this, it's mostly temperature issues, try using it in a temperature below regular room temp. and post results

As told many times here, the cells that come with pointers aren't much good. What do your cells measure for voltage ??
