Power a laser with lead battery

I have been wondering for a long time if it is possible to power a laser with a lead battery (max 12V - 5mhA, 3mhA, 2mhA)
So I turn the question over to you ...

I'd like to say, "of course it is".

You would need to regulate voltage and current to the laser. I guess it really depends on your power requirements and the type of laser.

I guess I don't know what mhA is though... Can someone direct me to what this is a unit of?
Edit: nevermind... I guess I've always wrote/read mAh. I'm guessing this is it.

Yes, in fact, then I can buy 7W -450nm laser modules powered at 12V, but I have to check their amperage.
At least with a lead-acid battery it's easier for now!
Building a laser pointer or something more challenging for now is not in my technical-constructive abilities

Any laser driver that can operate at 12 volts will work.

As I said .... for now it is better to proceed with easy things to realize, then studying better your posts I will acquire some of that practice that now I don't have

You needn't concern yourself with the current as the driver will only pull the current it needs. If you are using a 500 amp cranking power battery, it doesn't matter as long as the driver will operate at 12 volts.

For 7W, you would need a good supply of current like 2A+ is my guess (assuming 30% efficiency)... If you have a 5mAh battery you won't get much run time.

What lead battery specifically are you talking about?

Do you mean mAh/miliamp hour/ 1/1000th of an amp hour or Ah/amp hour ----5, 3, 2 mAh is nothing and be of little if any use in powering a 7W 450nm diode and driver.

Maybe he means the small lead batteries for alarm installations which are still sold over counter in some electronic shops until today -

I would use a lead battery if a really crazy current >20A would be needed. All the rest can be handled by lithium batteries.

EDIT: Once I have used this one - it easily gives 12A at 12V (look at the specs pdf)

I used to have one of those small lead acid batteries in my home alarm system back in the 1990s. They are smaller than car batteries, but still have a high current capacity.

I'm not completely sure what you're asking here, but that 12V battery shown in your above post is more than capable of powering that 7W diode module. (See Paul's post #6)

BTW, you won't always get an answer to your questions right away, it may be a few days, or more.

Instead, my buil (so to speak) will be the purchase of this 7W laser module and this 12V - 10Ahm lead acid battery
Connect the cable + and the one - to the battery, maybe I'll insert a pressure switch or on / off and have fun!

When I have the necessary skills, maybe I will be able to do better!
