US to build ‘historic’ 6,000-megawatt nuclear plant powering 4.5 million homes​

Each new facility will utilize 12 NuScale Power Modules (NPM).​

The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) has entered into an agreement with ENTRA1 Energy to develop up to 6 gigawatts (GW) of new nuclear power.

It involves the construction of six new nuclear plants across TVA’s seven-state service region. Each of these new facilities will be powered by 12 individual NuScale Power Modules (NPM).

This collaboration is projected to deliver approximately 5.5 GW of electricity, an output sufficient to power an estimated 4.5 million homes or 60 new large-scale data centers.

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission is considering allowing a Michigan nuclear plant to restart after approving in July its first such plant resumption with Palisades Nuclear Plant to increase U.S. energy output for data centers.

The NRC held a series of public meetings from July 31 through August 6 to gather feedback about enabling a restart of a former Three Mile Island Unit 1 that permanently stopped operating after 40 years in September 2019.

Following Disney’s decision to resume airing new episodes of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” beginning Tuesday, TV station group owner Nexstar Media said it will continue to preempt the show.

Nexstar said in a statement Tuesday morning: “We made a decision last week to preempt ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ following what ABC referred to as Mr. Kimmel’s ‘ill-timed and insensitive’ comments at a critical time in our national discourse. We stand by that decision pending assurance that all parties are committed to fostering an environment of respectful, constructive dialogue in the markets we serve.”

Both Sinclair and Nexstar have left the door open to bringing Kimmel back. As people are not able to see it in these locations, people will be asking why not? You guys are always blaming liberals for every shooting done against some conservative. These are gun nuts, and nothing more.

No one in this country has earned this! Most people didn't vote for it either. This will cost Republicans dearly next year.

On Monday, the Supreme Court cleared the way for Trump to fire FTC Commissioner Rebecca Slaughter and agreed to decide on the president’s ability to fire the heads of independent agencies. The case could dramatically upend Supreme Court precedent and give the executive branch much greater authority over federal agencies.
