Inspired by the 1AA Blu-ray I purchased from TheMonk. This is my first attempt at building my own laser. I used a PHR-803T from the Geeks.com HD-DVD drive mounted in an Aixis housing, a Dr. Lava Flexdrive set at 95ma. Running on one RCR123A battery. The host is a DX 6watt Luxeon I bought last year.

I couldn't have done this without all the knowlege I gained from other LPF members, so thank you! :)

Yea, the light is a little beat up

Very nice! I can't wait to build my mini BR.

You should get some yellow safety glasses and go outside at night and see what you can find that either fluoresces or changes color. Many plants give off an amazing red when viewed this way. It may help to unfocus the beam so that it spreads out and increases the area covered. Also look into fluorescing minerals. ;)

Nice build! Threads like this make me ever more eager to get my PHR-803T sleds.

Profession build, compact and durable.   [smiley=tekst-toppie.gif]

The power should be ~66mW 8-)   running at 95mA.

nice. I'm going to try to make one of these in about a week. I was also curious as to how much the diode / burner cost? I didn't see anything about HDDVD drives on geeks.com ????
