Hi Everyone

I need some help please :)

I really want to get myself a green laser and have been scouring the internet for a couple of days.

I want to spend about $300, the million dollar question is:

Which one is the best to get for that kind of money??

I want to pop balloons, light matches etc. all the good stuff.

Nova will ship to my country (South Africa), but I also found laserglow.

So please please please, help a guy out!

Also, is the difference between the 105 and 125 worth it?

Cool, thanks for your help.

Don't need bad service if I'm a couple of thousand miles away!

Mind you, I might go up to $400, but there doesn;t seem to be anything worth getting at that cost.
The next jump is to the Nova, and that starts at $799.

O yeah, just one really stupid question, what's the difference in buying a Nova 100 for instance and those 50mw pointers you can get one ebay.

Again, I know it's a stupid question, but I'd love to know
 
Well, the Nova has:
-IR filtering so you don't gradually go blind
-Customer service

The Ebaysers (I have a 50mW one) do something called 'mode hopping' duing which the output changes for the worse, sometimes I get 2-3 seperate and very weak dots.
The build quality is normally very poor.
Etc, it's a case of getting what you pay for.
They are fun to mess around with though!

PS: Ebay outputs are maximum peak values which you will rarely if ever experience, Nova's are average values which you will constantly experience.
e.g. A 50mW ebayser will be 30mW most of the time, an X105 might average 110mW of pure(99.9%) green.
 
Aaaah ok. Makes sense. What about wickedlasers.com? They any good?

in a short answer no wicked lasers are SH*TE if you want specs of there poor quality ask timelord (or any other member for that factor) it seems the only standard okish lasers from there are the core and thats sort of hit and miss (from what ive heard anyway) well im sure somebody will go into detail of Wicked lasers So thats my 2 cents ::)

Me again, sorry for all the questions, just can't seem to make up my mind.

But, since you guys know A LOT more than I do, I'm going to ask one LAST question :)

I found a 250mw hulk at dragonlasers for $ 599. Now is it worth it? I mean what would the difference be betwenn than and a Nova Alpha 105?

In other words, would balloons pop quicker, matches light quicker etc.

Sorry for being a pain, but if it's really worth it the nI'd rather shell out the $599 compared to the $289
 
Well it's more than twice as powerfull :D
AFAIK Dragonlasers are OK and many people are happy with their hulks.

The only thing I'd reccomend with the Hulk is perhaps some 532nm protective eye-wear?
 
what are you shure your talking about http://www.laserglow.com/ and not the wicked techlasers advertising that bashes laser glow becaus i have read noting but good things on here about laserglow and and fact that their handhelds have some of the highest runtimes avable for that price range. if you want power choose between the top 3 companies www.novalasers.com www.optotronics.com and www.laserglow.com
read up on the form some more and you will see that thos 3 are about the only ones to go with becas they constatly provide excelt customer service and lasers that meet or exced their specificans

Hmm? I figured I'd pitch in, cause I have no idea what you're talking about... ;D I've never heard anything less than glowing about Laserglow and their customer service. I own an Aries-75 myself, although I will admit I've never spoken to their support desk before - as I never had any issues at all with their products. They seem very professional and up front to me, and I would certainly do business with them again... if I had the money of course, LOL. They are big on FDA-compliance though, so if you really don't think you'd like the hassle of the size/safety features of the Aries and Hercules lasers, Nova is just dandy. :D

Would you mind posting links concerning Laserglow's customer service..I have heard nothing but good things about them... and not just on this forum.
