Planning DIY 445 direct press build/host: questions

Heya,
At university, I've spent the last semester learning how to use the mills/lathes in the machine shop for the Mechanical Engineering program. Apparently, I have pretty much free access to the shop for whatever personal project I want, and what better than making my own 445nm >1w laser?

However, there are a few things I've not been able to figure out from searching/reading the forums.

Primarily, what size/pitch of thread to AixiZ lenses/modules use? I'm actually still having trouble understanding exactly how the collimating lens/focus lens fits in the module. I have the impression that there is a one-unit lens that screws in from the front, and focus is adjusted by screwing the lens closer or farther from the diode? How far does the back of the lens typically sit from the diode front when focused for distance or burning?I'd really love full dimensions on AixiZ modules/lenses if someone has them.

The diode press fits in from the back, right? Is the seat for the diode typically counterbored?

I was planning a single flexdrive powered by 18650 with a reverse-clicky tailswitch. Has anyone used the sandwicheshoppe McClicky Switch or their Kroll Tailcap Switch, or have other recommendation for a forward clicky?

Is the flamingpyro silicone wire worth the cost over PVC wire I already have?

I can't wait to get started.

His wire is certainly the best and at .30 a foot not bad price. Your right about the Aixiz module, and at most the lens is just a couple millimeters away from the diode. Not sure where to get dimensions, don't think anything of that detail is on the website.

Yeah, I can vouch for the FP silicon wire too, 80ft of the stuff is on it's way to me, should last me a long while :)

Ha ha, yeah, I got a good deal on the stuff for a GB for the UK, was to good to pass up :)
I cannot recommend this stuff enough tho. Soon as you use it, you will be converted :D
