My CNI 150 arrived today from pseudonomen137's preorder (thanks Carter!). He also sent along lots of extras like a couple of diffraction gratings, an extra red laser pointer, some matches, balloons, extra batteries, etc which was pretty cool.

The power readings were 160mW peak and 154mW average.

Anyway, on to the pics and vids:

Vids:

Lighting an unsharpied red match

Cutting tape

The obligatory balloon pop

Lighting a cigarette

I'm pretty happy with it. Feels like a good quality laser and it has about the same burning power as my DIY reds, but with a much tighter and brighter beam.

Looks good, I have a used 130mW from him coming pretty soon, this makes me even more eager to get it!

That's pretty surprising that you can light a cig! - my roommate and I tried to light one of her cigs with my 173mw red pointer and it didn't work. Very impressive.

Thats weird... my alpha 125 (specs in sig.) lights cigs pretty easy. But, theres kind of a trick to it, you cant just point it straight into the middle. I point it at an angle close to the paper, so when one piece of tobacco lights, it gets the paper going and the rest falls into place 8-)

Its a bit tricky indeed, but doable with 100 mW+ lasers. Somehow it looks like it works better with green than with red light though. I've posted a video using a 16x dvd diode somewhere in this section.

Yeah there's another little trick to make lighting cigarettes a little easier aswell. If you'll barely light the cigarette and then put it out completely, it turns the tabacco black on the end and makes it much easier to light with the laser.

Anyway, this laser is for sale in the classifieds section if anyone's interrested. An unexpected bill has come up and I have to part with it. :(
