Earlier this year the "Pico Projetor" was release and there were some threads started concerning it an its laser internals. I've done several LPF searches and it never seemed to go past just taking about it, i didn't find any threads where someone actually got a hold of one and examined it.

If there is thread that does have one of these going under the knife please fell free to post a link. I'd like to know if it would be possible to tear into on of these things as a way of creating an ultra compact white laser, granted the beam would be incredibly thin. Its just something i happened to remember earlier today an wasn't able to find more info on.

Did you watch the videos on the one Pico thread? I though it did a pretty good job of explaining its inner workings. As far as LPF members who have disassembled one, I doubt it.

Yup, i well aware of how it works, i more ineterested if any one here actually bought one to rip into. I've be contemplating buying one for the soul purpose of immediate dismemberment
But before i do, i wanted to check if there was anyone else who had already done so so i could benefit from their experience.

I'm pretty sure that they still use LED's, so tearing one up might be a lot of money to pay for no laser..

Actually I'm 100% sure it uses lasers, since it's a "laser projector"... :)

Really?! Well the last time I read about one was like a few months ago so maybe im behind the handheld-projector times :P haha

I have a demo unit Optoma pico projector in the shop, I assure you it uses an LED.

All the pico projector vids i have seen show it using lasers to create a sweeping beam to reproduce an image like a CRT
