I picked up 2 of these on EvilBay today for $39 each. I hope to squeeze something in to them shortly... Any ideas? Should I try a home grown DPSS?

Laser Housing DPSS 445nm high quality fixture - eBay (item 230536372178 end time Nov-03-10 02:24:54 PDT)

High quality aluminum construction housing with a cavity volume of 35mmW x 120mmL x 30mmH . Unit come completely assembled with all screws intact. No, I'm trying to say that he sold you one of those lasers without the laser inside. He had a bunch of crystal sets from them, the IR pump diode, and still has the prism set listed (the guy you bought from, holokidd).

Yes, it indeed is the same laser.

He's simply removed the internals and sold the casing for profit.

If you'd bought the defective one, you'd have gotten a nice set of anamorphics, along with a driver.

They do work good for 445s though, wannaburn's avatar is one of them I believe.

Actually my avatar is one of the lasers I mill from a block of alum...

If you look at my sig, I use one of those in my '445 corrected labby'
I got mine as a functioning 473nm with PS for 30$.

They make nice hosts if you get one that wasn't painted with
black spray paint... There are ones that weren't properly anodized...

Yes Sir! Actually, I have a couple of sets of 445 correction optics, 650 cubes, dichros, mounts etc on the way. It is time to put these DT30's to good use.

Before you strip them, be sure there is no paint or visible 'pits' in the aluminum.
A few that I bought had pitting in the alum, and were most likely burnt in the anodizing
process. You would have to erode at least 1mm to get rid of the spoiled layer.

If you notice paint, dont bother stripping, I lost 2 that look terrible now...
