Hello

I was testing a PHR-803T in a Z-bolt heatsink. (Aixiz Module Acrylic Lens)
It was connected to a LM317 Driver runing at 80mA. (Was on 30seconds)

Then this happend.

Any Ideas what may have caused it?

Thanks.

Looks like your diode is toast..

Almost all laser diodes have a faint rectangular halo around their spot, this is caused by small amounts of light being emitted around the edges of the diode die itself. When the diode is producing full power this halo can be tough to see next to the main beam spot, but if the laser dies and the spot dims, the halo becomes more noticeable.
