Panasonic 18650+ Cheap charger






Using a cheap charger to charge the Panasonic battery is fine? Is there anything I should be wary of?

You might want to check the voltage output of the charger. Some cheap chargers I have tested were overcharging cells to 4.22V. Not a big problem, but was bad enough for me that I replaced it with a decent hobby charger.

Other than that, you should be fine, even though it doesn't completely follow the CC/CV charging method.

So if it is overcharged to 4.2V, will the battery ACTUALLY be 4.2V when you start using it in the laser? The text on my charger is in Chinese, but it says something with 4.2V +-1% as well, so I assume it is the maximum overcharge.
Does the battery degrade faster this way/ any laser components?

4.2V is the max voltage, so if you charge a cell to that value, it's not overcharging it. If you go above and beyond, you risk damaging the battery and shortening its life. After a couple of minutes you take the cell out of the charger, it will settle down to about 4.18-9 volts.

Your laser components should be safe even if the battery is fully charged to 4.2V.
