Opinions on Ebay 20k Galvos

Howdy, total newb here. I just want to toy around with some beamshow stuff. What do you folks think about this listing;

20Kpps optical high speed galvo scanner for laser light - eBay (item 390250619521 end time Nov-09-10 07:10:20 PST)

Is there anything missing that I would need? Excluding the lasers of course. Would I need a special ps for that? Or can I just run AC to the one in that kit? Also how exactly is that thing interfaced to a computer? My understanding is that the test board has a couple of preprogrammed patterns+sound activation mode which would hold me over for a while.

These are only motors which turn the mirrors which direct the beam.

Here's how should entire setup aproximately look like:

Ofcourse, just neatly made into computer case or similar.

The listing does say "Package include 2 Drivers(each for X and Y),Scanner head,Mount,ILDA connecters,Power Supply,Control Board,DIP switches,Sound sensitivity knob,mic,Cables". Am I overlooking something here? It does seem like everything required for a standalone sound activated system. I could very well just be retarded though.

You'd still need a DMX 512 board and lasers, and then a psu and case, definitely not plug and play, sorry.

Just got a reply from them.

"Hello there,

It can be used as a standalone because the Show Card Board has 2 built-in mode - Auto and Sound or with a 512 controller (OPTIONAL).

The power is between 90 - 260, and you don't need a standalone power.

Minus the semi broken English, this sounds pretty appealing. I think I'm gonna take the plunge on this one.

What Proto here means is, that this is a galvo system but still needs to be controlled by something.

If you want it controlled by sound, you gotta build a controller for it. Everything here is included for making the operational, but you still need to feed them signal. How do you feed it is up to you.

On the picture up there, it's a soundcard DAC modification, homemade correction amplifier board and analog driver for which schematics and board designs can be downloaded from links in my signature.
