Hold down the button to get in the 2 levels low and high.

A quick double quick gets you into strobe mode. One press of the switch gets you out of strobe.

In either low or high the level will be memorized when shut off. Does not memorize strobe mode.

I took Lux readings with my Meterman LM631 Meter with the 2 18650 battery carrier. The batteries I used are Trustfire 2400mAh 3.7V Li-Ion Rechargeable Batteries.

==================================

The Olight SR51 XM-L U2 is a very good constructed light.

The threads are square and came lubed. Threads are smooth.

O-rings came lubed.

The Type III Hard Anodize is excellent. No spots or specks noted. Color matching is excellent.

The User's Interface is very easy to use. Very easy to figure out.

The beam tint on my Olight SR51 XM-L U2 has a very white hot spot with the characteristic very slight green tint around the hot spot. The very slight green tint is more noticeable in low.

When I used the diffuser the very slight green tint is not noticeable in high. In low though I can see some very slight green in the diffused light. When I first turned on the SR51 it reminded me of fluorescent light. I was surprised how much I liked the SR51 with the diffuser. It makes the SR51 use at night inside your house very "easy" on your eyes. No hot spot that could dominate your vision.

The advertised 110 run time in high is not bad IMO. Also 10 hours in low.

The Olight SR51 feels well balanced in my hands. As with most of the side switches it does take a little movement to get your thumb to find the switch.

The SR51 has some notches machined into the head to prevent rolling, anti roll.

The battery tube removed feels very light. The tube is on the thin side.

The holster IMO could be made of a little thicker material if you were using it everyday. It may not take the abuse of daily use. There is a zipper so it can be unzipped so the head can fit in the holster.

I hope in the future a Smooth Reflector (SMO) could be offered. I'm not sure if the Stainless Steel Bezel could be removed though. I did try to remove it. Maybe with more effort I can do it.

The metal travel case is a nice touch. A place to store your light and extra protection for traveling.

I purchased the Olight SR51 XM-L U2 from Going Gear for $125.95.

Erns, what is your opinion of the OP reflector vs. the smooth one?

I'll always choose a SMO reflector over an OP reflector. I'd rather have more throw over a smooth beam.

I read that Olight had problems designing a SMO reflector so they opted for an OP reflctor. They said the beam was very bad.

There still maybe and "outside" chance that Olight will come out with a SMO reflector.

How the hell can you afford all these lights man... I'm hoping to pick up an Olight SR90 some day, for a bit over $300 its an insane torch.

This is a comparison of the Olight SR51 XM-L vs Fenix TK60 XM-L.

The Olight SR51 uses an Orange Peel Reflector. The Fenix TK60 uses an SMO Reflector.

I used 2 freshly charged Redilast 2900mAh 3.7V Li-ion in the Olight SR51 XM-L and I used 4 Tenergy Premium D Size 10,000mAh Nimh Rechargeable Batteries in the Fenix TK60 XM-L.

All beam shots are taken in the high settings in each light.

It looks to me that my Fenix TK60 XM-L slightly edges out the Olight SR51 XM-L in throw.
