okay, i cannot get this to work! HELP

okay, ive bought a aurora cree i think its c6. from Jay, and its got a stock driver etc and i took the components out and solderd my jib driver on it +v on + and -v on - on the sotck driver...and i connected everything. and press switch..and nothing. ive pmed jay about instruction and he told me all the things. but i still cant get it to work. maybe there is a broken connection on the stock driver, who knows i dont have a multimeter to test .

ive got some pics to show

left part is negative and right part is positive... so thats right..

this is the brass ring that the stock driver touches once inserted..this is the negative path to the battery..

and these brass parts gets soldered onto the brass ring on the pill?? i dont know.

so can someone please heeeelp i have like a week before im off to turkey and i wanna take this with me. cheers

Sorry bud.... but that has to be the worst soldering I have
seen in 20 years...:cryyy:

The 1st pic looks like you couldn't be bothered to even twist
the stripped ends of the stranded white wires together...
or Pre-Tin them.

I would surmise by the lumps of solder you put on the
PCB that you have shorted the adjacent solder pads...:cryyy:

The 3rd pic looks like you didn't heat up the 3 pads enough
to get the solder to flow and make a proper solder joint...
(again... Flux will help)

I would suggest that you get some Solder Flux and
try again...

i suppose your right, i was very frustrated by the end of it. ive been trying to make it work for 5 hours non stop. i shall try again.

I got a good station, watched a tutorial, and became proficient at it in a few minutes.

What color laser diode are you using?

If you are using the original output lead positions, there will be no path from the battery to the output leads as you have removed all the components, If it was me I would drill a hole in the center and use that as your + and the case as the -

I believe that both white wires that were, uhh , *soldered* to the black contact board, are soldered on the outter negative ring connection.

Positive connection is supposed to be at one of the pins of the 8-pin chip pad connections, somewhere near the middle of the board.

So I believe you're connecting both wires to negative, with positive battery terminal hanging in the air not doing anything.

Also, give us pictures of your driver and diode soldering. From the looks of simple wire soldering work, you might have destroyed your driver and/or diode. Sorry or discouragement, but that's how I see it being a possibility.

If you don't get it working then you can send it to me if you like as I'm in the UK. If you can supply the instructions you have been given by jib and Jay then it shouldn't be a problem to resolve.

I would practice your soldering though before attempting a repair or your next build. It really is the backbone skill of anything we do here and just takes a little patience.
