Why does the front piece of this laser stick out? Some pictures it has it sticking out and in others it doesn't.

I have that particular laser, only mine is from RAYFOSS. That is the focusable head extended for distant focus. The lasers you see where the head is up against the laser body just means that they have it screwed in for closer focusing.............rob
