O-Like Blu-Ray diode driver






If you're talking about the o-like driver, it works with my two AAA duraloops... Can't tell you the current draw, though, my meter's fuse blew. Just confirming that it works... I have no idea on efficiency or regulation.
 
Right now, my meter only measures current at the 1-10A range. My fuse for the mA ranges is blown, so I can't really measure accurately what the current is. Not to mention, I don't yet know how to use an oscilloscope, so I don't know how clean the current regulation is.
 
Mm. I know someone with an oscilloscope, and he knows how to use it, but I'm not ready to spend any money on any laser parts right now. Thanks anyway, though. But, I wonder...what about just putting a 1ohm resistor in series with the driver and battery, and measuring mV across it? Won't that give a *reasonably* accurate measurement?
 
This will give you the current from the batteries. From there, you can calculate how much power it uses. The power would be how much is sent to the diode plus how much is wasted through driver inefficiencies. Next time I charge my duraloops, I'll put 'em in my blu-ray pen. It has the same driver, I'm pretty sure. Thanks for reminding me about the 1 ohm resistor trick. Ohm's law strikes again!

I will say this much, compared against two crap-brand (but new) alkalines, the duraloops rock.
