Hey everyone. I am new here and I just have to hear everyones opinion about the two lasers mentioned in the title. I'm only looking to spend between $75 and $125 for a pretty high quality laser. If you guys have any better suggestions please speak up! I want to get the most for my money :), but I also want this to be a safe "toy" (with an IR filter, not like dx or ebay lasers) Thanks for looking. Peace.

Go x-45, it will most likely put out around 55-65mw, that seems to be the trend with NOVA!

Send NOVA and Email asking them to pick out a "Nicer" X-45 from the batch, they will send you the output, which im pretty sure will be well above 45mw.

Okay and how should I go about doing this? Email before or after I pay?

You should actually hold off on ordering from them for just a little while longer, until I find out what happened to our forum discount ! It will save you at least 5% off your bill - so it is worth one or two days more to wait, isnt it ?

Yes sir it is! Thanks for telling me that. I can wait I'm at this freshman thing for college. Seems like it's going to be more work than people make it out to be...

Well, I just shot them off another email, asking them again specifically what is going on - hopefully I will hear back from them tomorrow - I may actually call them to find out what is up !

Angdvl089, if you are still waiting, the discount has been reinstated... It's "warp5" without the quotes.

I did try that stuff and it did not help... :-[

Surprisingly enough I just met someone who has a 125mw Wicked Laser and he said as soon as I get this laser I'll just want more power. Now I can believe this so I've decided to wait a week or two and save up some money. I was thinking around $225. Mainly a BFG. Is there anything better out there for my price range? Please help I'm in dire need in one of these b-e-a-utiful pieces of machinery! Thanks.

Oh damn - do NOT get a BFG !

Please read the numerous threads here regarding that laser, and the clown that owns the company....

I read like two of the posts that were against BFG lasers and they were bought when BFG advertised a higher output. They now advertise 100mW. Still crap?

[EDIT] In your opinion what do you think is the best laser for that price range?

For $225 I would suggest an X105, it's a great burner and is BRIGHT! And If I were you I wouldn't trust BFG, you probably won't even get 100mW! And if you get an X105 you will no matter what get at least an average of 105mW.

Well thanks for all the help guys. I couldn't wait any longer I want this thing at home by the time I get back so I went with an x65. Kind of stupid for me to ask this now but what do you guys think of this laser? Good burner? And thanks for the discount i saved $6.45! I'm on a tight budget as a college kid lol. Thanks.

BTW-The voltage for this laser is 3.0V so what would be the best 1.5V rechargeable AAA? Also, a question about mAH (abbreviation?), is the theory the higher the rating the longer the battery will keep its charge?

wow cool a question i can kinda answer!!!

I have a few R/C cars and the mAH is reffering to basicly how much juice can be stored int eh battery. Not nessesarily how long it will last. In R/C cars while you sometimes do get more run time out of the bigger batts you also get better performance. meaning the cars go faster, but not nessesarily longer. Lasers might be different tho.

So rechargeable lithiums would be the best I suppose from reading around? Do they make lithiums at 1.5v a piece? Or 1.2v like most other rechargeables?
