Hello everybody. Name here is Matthew. I had an account some many years ago, but for whatever reason I couldn't find it. Regardless, I've been an unposting lurker for quite some time. Randomly looking up the ideas that pop into my head without warning, but never really hanging out on LPF. I figured since I'm in the process of actually purchasing my first >100mw coherent flashlight, I might as well officially join the party.
I've had many toys over the years.. All sub 100mw jobs. I've run a couple of HeNe kits even further back in the day. I distinctly recall the feeling of 2500v causing my arm to tense up while attempting to re aim my Dad's red dot shooter in the sky on a random night sometime around 1992.
Today I'm almost halfway through my 30s, and I've all but forgotten about the fun I had with the mirrors, beam splitters and smoke. Back then it was just a dream to be able to burn simple things unlike what is done so easily with the available gear nowadays. I am well on my way to going bankrupt resurrecting this old hobby.
As for my confounding thread title, I live out in the National Forest southwest of Tallahassee Florida near the Gulf. So not far enough east to be considered NFL, but not far enough west either. Just a lil area known as the forgotten coast.
So as a proper member, I wanted to post my intro before I dive back in to my thoughts on multi kW death rays and smoke machines.
